Comments on Sat's Blog

Smoking
It’s true that smoking is portrayed in a positive and attractive way in the media through films and soups and so on. It’s not right that these sorts of programmes are not showing the downside to smoking; it should not always be shown as sexy. The effects and the ways in which it harms people should be shown on TV more than anything else. I agree with Sat as she says that youngsters look at the media for their main source of information. I believe something should be done about this.

Comments on Sharon's Blog

I agree with Sharon’s opinion on abortion I do think it’s wrong to kill and take an innocent Childs life away from them. It’s true to say that people should think before they act. Having an abortion is not a minor thing, this is what people are not realising nowadays, and it’s taking a life. There are several ways in which pregnancy can be prevented and they should be taken into consideration as Sharon mentioned.

Abortion

Abortion

An abortion is the removal of an embryo or foetus from the uterus resulting in caused death. Abortion means ending a pregnancy. This can be seen as wrong or right, I think it depends on the situation i.e. if someone who knows they are not financially stable enough to afford a baby it may right to abort the child because it will result in the child having a bad life when he/she is born. However if someone never had a valid reason to abort a child and have taken someone’s life without reason it is wrong. It is killing an innocent child. I believe that people should support someone if they are going through an abortion whether they are right or wrong because it can have a major effect on the women’s mental or physical health.

Comments on Infidelity

I agree with what you are saying, I believe that if you are already in a relationship however your feelings are growing for someone else, you should explain your feelings to your current partner. It’s not fair and it is hurting the other person. Yes it’s true that there are people out there who do enjoy having affairs, although they don’t realise or think about the effect that it is having on their partner. I could also never betray my partner; I would never be able to forgive myself as I have mentioned I think it is wrong. In the same way if he was to ever cheat on me I would not be able to forgive him either. Betraying someone is wrong.

Body modification – Tattoos

This lecture was enjoyable. I didn’t have much knowledge on the history of tattooing before this lecture and it was interesting to find out about it. Even though I don’t have a tattoo at the moment I would consider having one in the near future but it would have to be a small one. It doesn’t appeal to me when people have tattoos all over their body, but again its personal choice and I respect that.

Tellin Lies

Lying

Yes I have lied, everyone has lied, and I mean you would be lying if you said you have never lied. However I don’t think that lying is good. It should be avoided when and where possible, but I mean in circumstances such as lying to children and saying that Santa will bring you a presents at Christmas, like mentioned in lecture is not sooo bad as long as you get the child what he/she wanted. However it is major lies that can get people in trouble. I avoid lying as much as I can I’d only ever lie if I had to and it’s not very often I do have to, I personally think it’s a bad habit.

Stalking

Stalking is when an individual is obsessed, is continuous tormenting. It is when someone is giving you unwanted attention and this could be through any of the following:
Internet chat rooms
Text messaging
Phone calls
Letters
Personal contact
Emails
Anybody could be a stalker, they may well be someone you’ve dated in the past, alternatively they may even be someone you don’t even know and never seen before. There are numerous causes that can set off stalkers i.e. they could have psychological problems and may not be able to form relationships in the usual way.

Drugs

In my opinion drug use is completely unacceptable. Many people say that taking drugs is the best feeling ever, however over time an individual will gradually start to need more and more drugs in order to get the same “good” feeling, which in a sense is increasing the risk of addiction. Drug use is actually for many people the worse thing that can happen. In many cases people will loose friends, they may drop out of school, be in debt and also they ruin their health. It is true that those who take drugs develop psychological problems such as suicidal depression or serious physical problems such as liver damage and brain damage. I think it is a serious matter and drug users should deal with the problem before they get addicted and matters just get worse. I am now 19 years old and I have a friend who I have known since I was 4, he was 18 years old when he got in to bad company and started to take drugs, he eventually got kicked out his home by his parents who could no longer put up with his behaviour and soon after started to loose all his friends. He has got himself in to a lot of debt and is always in need of money, and if you give him money, again it goes straight on drugs, which is doing him no justice. He says that he cant help the fact that he’s so hooked on drugs, even though he knows that he’s loosing all his loved one’s, he’s simply addicted. Therefore I think that drug use is one of the worst things a person could do, I believe its vital to understand the negative points of drug use before getting into it.

Prostitution

Prostitution is the act of sexual intercourse in exchange for money. It is not Prostitution if one was to take money from somebody who was expecting sex but didn’t provide them with it. I wouldn’t say that Prostitution is socially acceptable either. In a situation where someone took money without providing sex would be classed as stealing in my opinion more than I would think it is Prostitution. I don’t agree with stealing or prostitution to be fair I believe that they are both wrong, I don’t agree with the fact a man or women should sleep with a random person in order to get some money. Alternatively there are many people who would disagree with what I am saying but fair play that’s there opinion, which they are completely entitled to.

Gambling

Its understandable when people say they love to gamble. But it’s about knowing your limits. I know many people who love gambling and quiet a few say they are addicted. Once they win money they want more and more, yet if they loose money they want to gain it again, but I don’t think they realise that gambling may just make matters a lot worse financially for them if they don’t win. Personally I feel that it is very important to know your limit, its vital you know when to stop because gambling may leave you in debt.

Piercings

Body modification – piercing

This lecture involved viewing some shocking pictures of body piercing. Some of the pictures showed parts of the body, which I would have thought people would never consider getting pierced. To be truthful I was disturbed by some of the more explicit forms of piercing to the human body, which I saw when were given the chance to stay behind and see if we wished. Through the duration of this lecture there were several pictures I couldn’t look at so I had to turn my face as I was finding them so disturbing.

Being Too Religious

Being too religious.

I believe in Sikhism. I do believe in my religion however I am not TOO religious. I don’t have a problem with those who are. To me, that is their business and it’s their choice. The thing which I do disagree on however is those people that preach and force their religious beliefs on others, well I’m against that anyway. Sometimes I think that people can take religion a bit too far and this can result in war, in my opinion this is inapproraite, for example the news is often based on the war in iraq and many innocent deaths

Infidelity

Infidelity

To cheat on someone who is already married, is one of the worst things that one can do. It is wrong! Just imagine how you would feel if the one you truly loved was sleeping with somebody else. We would be shattered, traumatized and devastated, well I would anyway. Adultry is completely wrong. I would never do such thing in my life; I am 100% against it. People tend to have an affair when their relationship is not working with their husband or wife, however in my oponion this is wrong i belive that if the relationship is not working and there is no way of trying to make it work people should end the relationship altogether. I belive what goes round come’s round. So think before you act!!!!

Stealing

Stealing

Stealing is taking something which doesn’t belong to you, stealing in my opinion it is wrong. Once a person steals and gets away with it they will be tempted to do it over and over again, and gradually they will start to steal things from as small as a sweet to something as major as robbing houses and bigger companies etc. stealing is against the law and therefore someone who gets caught will be punished and the punishment may not even be worth the fine or sentence the thief may receive. what is so right about stealing. You should only buy what you can afford, if you can not afford it, i dont believe stealing is the way to go about it.
Stealing can lead to violence making the environment an unsafe place to live in. Thief’s may carry weapons with them to harm the person they are going to rob for example they may attack or even gun point a shop keeper in order to get the money from the till or raid the shop.

Masterbation

Masturbations

Masturbation refers to sexual stimulation to cause sexual sensations and it is quite common in young children. In my personal opinion I don’t think it’s a problem if people don’t want to discuss their personal doings if they don’t wish to with others. However by all means if people do wish to speak about it, why not? Its not like they are comminting a crime, to many people its natural. In the past masturbation was not an extremely exceptable thing to do, infact it was seen as a bad thing, therfore this could be a reason why people don’t want to open up and discuss in detail. However in today’s day and age it is a normal thing to do and it is completely exceptable as it is seen as a norm.

Smoking

I am personally against smoking. I believe that not only is smoking a waste of money but it simply ruins many peoples lives in numerous ways for example it increases heart rate and blood pressure, damages arteries, increases clotting and so on. I don’t think it’s right for parents to smoke in front of their children either as this has a major impact on the child, as the parent is the role model to the child therefore the child will see smoking as a norm.

Conversely I would not stop those individuals who smoke from doing so, yes I would explain to my loved one’s that it is bad for them but if they wish to carry on smoking that’s totally up to them. I wouldn’t myself class smoking as “Being Bad” because there are many more things which are worse than smoking i.e. drink driving! Nonetheless everyone is different, and everyone has their own right to choice.

Week 1

When I first enrolled on to being bad I was not sure what it would entail, however my first lecture was very enjoyable and encouraged me to continue. I enjoyed listening to and particiapting with the group discussions as we were given the chance to share our thoughts and views.
